More expired products

Well, I guess you can say I told you so or something along those lines. The only real surprises were my Elf putty primer, Elf finishing powder and Tarte lipstick.

Those were the products I used the most before I realized they were ‘off’. This inspired me to check a few other items that were about the same age.

The Acure cleanser that I think I received from an Allure Beauty Box never smelled good so I hardly used it.

The total amount decluttered is $153.92

Have you noticed any long term items that youve had that might have expired?

Makeup Collection – Eyeshadows

I wanted to share my actual makeup inventory this year – mostly to keep myself accountable. Ill be splitting it into manageable sections over the course of the next few blog posts.

In this post, Ill be sharing my eyeshadow products.

I wont be going into detail because that would take all day, but I have divided my shadows into creams/sticks, singles, small palettes and larger palettes. Im still working on updating numbers in my spreadsheet so I dont have complete shadow totals as of now.

Below are mostly shadow sticks and cream shadows. I use these as a one and done most of the time.

These are the single shadows I have not depotted or cannot depot. The Tarte pots are like a pressed glitter.

These are my mini sized palettes. Those Elf bite size palettes really impressed me last year and I purchased the green one for Christmas last year (even tho we didnt see anyone)

These are my small palettes. If I remember correctly these have 9 pans. I received the Tartelette palettes for Christmas this year.

This is what I have as far as large palettes. The two pink Ulta palettes contain depotted shadows.

I feel like even tho I have a pretty large eyeshadow collection, it doesnt seem TOO overwhelming. If you have any questions about what I like and use the most, leave a comment below.

Do you have the same palettes I have? Do you have a favorite shadow or palette? Let me know below!

Makeup Inventory – Eyeliners and Mascaras

I wanted to share my actual makeup inventory this year – mostly to keep myself accountable. Ill be splitting it into manageable sections over the course of the next few blog posts.

In this post, Ill be sharing my eyeliner and mascara products.

This is another category that is out of control. I have received so many eyeliners and mascaras in beauty boxes over the years that I would be surprised if I ever ran out.

Below are my 9 mascaras. Half of these were received in various beauty/subscription boxes. (My purchases are the Sephora, Mac and Essense.) I am currently using the Sephora and BareMinerals mascaras. Im not very picky when it comes to mascara but I prefer a drier formula as well as not waterproof.

I will never run out of black eyeliner. If Ive counted correctly, I have 15. I have way too many but I want to try to use as many as I can. I do have 6 colored liners but I prefer the black. Im currently using the two liners pictured at the bottom (Julep and Ulta) I do have two potted liners (one black and one brown) but I dont like using them and will likely declutter them sometime this year.

Ive done well using my liquid liners. I usually toss them after 3 months. Im currently using the Stila liner and do like it but the Elf is more affordable.

Is this category out of control for you?

Makeup Inventory – Face (Blush, Bronzer, Highlighters)

I wanted to share my actual makeup inventory this year – mostly to keep myself accountable. Ill be splitting it into manageable sections over the course of the next few blog posts.

In this post, Ill be sharing my blushes, bronzers, and highlighters. I find that I have a lot of products in this category. Its not my largest category, but its still quite a bit for me.

I have 7 bronzers. I have depotted a few travel sized bronzers and they live in a z-palette along side of some of the blushes I have depotted. I am very close to hitting pan on the Benefit bronzer (I have some side pan showing but that was a misfortune of depotting and not from usage.)

I also have 7 blushes. Ive hit pan on the Tarte Paarty blush and am very close to hitting pan on the Elf blush. I acquired two new blushes this year. I won the No7 in a youtube giveaway and the BareMinerals blush was part of my birthday gift from the brand. Once I hit pan on the Elf blush, Ill be concentrating on finishing the Milk Makeup stick blush since its the third oldest blush I own and cream type products have a shorter life. I do love this Milk Makeup blush and find that the shade is very complimentary.

Do not even ask me how someone acquires so many highlighters. I must have blacked out. There are 8 highlighters in this photo (and two highlighting palettes shown below). I hit pan on the Mac highlighter in a project back in 2019 (IIRC) and Im currently working to get pan in the Wet N wild highlighter. The Wander Beauty highlighter was in an Allure Beauty Box last year and its fantastic.

I won the Laura Geller palette in another youtube giveaway and the ABH palette came from a subscription box about a year or so ago.

Its safe to say that I do not have a need for any additional bronzers, blushes OR highlighters.

Have you used any of the face products I have pictured here? What do you think?

Makeup Inventory – Face (Base)

I wanted to share my actual makeup inventory this year – mostly to keep myself accountable. Ill be splitting it into manageable sections over the course of the next few blog posts.

Ill start with my face products. These are only the base products (blush, bronzer and highlighters will be their own post)

Below are the primers I have. There are two that are mainly used for oily skin. The Charlotte Tilbury one is good to use on its own for when I dont want to put on face makeup. I have loved the Peter Thomas Roth since getting a sample in a Sephora Play box a few years back and it also can be used on its on.

I have three concealers. I dont really use concealers regularly. My go-to is the BareMinerals concealer but I wanted to try the new Elf concealer and I recently got the No 7 concealer to test.

As an oily skinned woman, I prefer powder foundation. Mac has discontinued my favorite Select Sheer powder shown here, but I made sure to get a couple before they ran out. I use the Studio Fix powder for days when I want more coverage. BareMinerals is my go-to for sure. Its been my holy grail for many years. I picked up the Loreal on sale a year or so ago, and do like it but it doesnt compare to the BareMinerals in my opinion.

I also have five liquid foundations. Im currently using the first three pictured – since they are now the oldest ones I have in my collection. I absolutely LOVE the It Cosmetics CC+ Cream! It provides great coverage and doesnt feel heavy on my skin.

I have three misc powders. I use the top two as setting powders. They are both samples. Im currently using the Makeup Forever powder. The Elf powder is great for using on the whole face. I do like it and it seems to last a long time.

What do you think of the products I have? Have you used any of the above products? Do they work for you?

2020 Makeup Empties

Thank goodness 2020 is over, right? I had so many project pan ideas and no where to go…..

Despite being at home 99% of last year, I didnt do “TOO” bad on finishing things. I mainly concentrated on skin care last year but I did manage to wear some makeup.

My empties total for 2020 is $1069.13

How did you do last year?

November 2020 Declutter

Miraculously I havent had to declutter anything since June but as we all find out, sometimes we dont get a chance to use things up before they expire or we just plain hate using an item.

This month I have two products that hit both of those reasons to declutter an item.

The first – is my Mac Oil Control Lotion. I love this stuff but I havent been able to use it at all this year because my regularly oily skin has been so dry. I had placed this product into my Fall into Winter Final Push Project but when I use it now, it breaks me out all over my face. Ive had it for a while so its probably expired.

The second product Im decluttering is the Marianella Body Oil. I hate this product. I usually like body oils, but this smells straight up like pledge. I received it in a FabFitFun box and it was a disappointment to say the least.

The total amount for this declutter is $52

Have you found any items you had to declutter this month?

Fall into Winter Final Push Project Pan

For those who have been following my blog for awhile, you may know that I like to do a project at the end of every year to try to finish up whatever I can. If I remember correctly, its samples of skincare focused.

This year I wanted to include foils, deluxe samples and a full size product. I am also still working on my 9 By November project and whatever Im still working on will just roll into this.

I wanted to include as many aspects of my everyday skincare routine as I could.

  • Sulwhasoo serum – Ill be using this as my daytime serum
  • Mac Oil Control Lotion – Ill be using this as my daytime moisturizer
  • Josie Maran Retinol Serum – Ill be using this as my nighttime serum
  • Clarins Tonic Treatment – I believe this is a body oil
  • Clarins Body Milk – Ill be using this as a body lotion
  • Belif – This is the eye cream Im currently using
  • Olay Retinol – Ill be using this a few times a week as my night time moisturizer
  • Loccitane – Ill be using this as a hand and foot cream

Ill also be using the foil samples from Sephora, Origins, Kora Organics, Drunk Elephant, Tata Harper, Vichy, Summer Fridays

Will you be doing a final push project to round out the year?

2020 Low Buy Plans

Last year I decided to go on a low buy/no buy but did not have a concrete plan. I exceeded the amount I planned to spend, so this year, I am making a plan.

I have a strict guidelines for myself for 2020. I will only be replacing products I run out of, but will allow myself a splurge item for my birthday.

I have subscribed to FabFitFun as well as the Allure Beauty Box and those items will be counted as beauty purchases in my yearly spreadsheet. I plan on keeping the Allure box thru June, but may obviously cancel prior to then. Should I cancel the Allure box, I will not be subscribing to any other beauty box for the remainder of the year.

I plan on buying the reusable bamboo type makeup rounds sometime this year. I have a back stock of cotton rounds so this purchase will be made sometime this summer.

I will also be looking at what Ulta has in their 21 Days of Beauty. They have offered the Tarte lip paints in years prior and I will be looking to repurchase one that Ive been using for awhile.

Products I will need to repurchase:

  • Laura Mercier loose setting powder – I just finished up a deluxe sample and this will be what I purchase for my birthday in June.
  • Clinique Pretty Easy Liquid Eye liner – This is my favorite liquid liner. I have some Elf liners to use before I purchase this.
  • Mascara (Either Mac, Clinique, or Charlotte Tilbury) – I have enough mascaras to get me thru most of the year, but if Ulta has any of these on sale, I will be buying one at that time.
  • Cleanser (Loreal and Origins) – I have a bunch of cleansers to finish but Ill need to purchase sometime near the end of the year.
  • Setting Spray – Ill need to purchase sometime this summer.
  • Beauty Sponges – I have enough sponges to get thru spring/summer but I think Ill need to purchase sometime around October.

Im sure there are other items I will need as the year goes on, but I will not purchase until I am almost out of what I have on hand. I should not need to purchase any skin care this year, but if I happen to run out of something, I will make a purchase for what I need.

So, are you going on a low buy or no buy this year? Have you made plans to cut down on your spending?

December 2019 Empties

I cannot believe that the year is over! The end of another decade. The beginning of something new is about to occur…

The end of a year is something special. You can say goodbye to the old and hello to the new. You can strive to be something more. You can reinvent yourself.

On a makeup related note: Make sure to replace your mascaras, makeup sponges and liquid liners if you have had them in use over 3 months. Dont start your year using old or dirty tools 🙂

This months empties total is $185.45!!

Our total amount for 2019 is $1,419.50!

This amount far exceeds what I thought I would have used up for the year! It all adds up.
