Makeup Inventory – Eyeliners and Mascaras

I wanted to share my actual makeup inventory this year – mostly to keep myself accountable. Ill be splitting it into manageable sections over the course of the next few blog posts.

In this post, Ill be sharing my eyeliner and mascara products.

This is another category that is out of control. I have received so many eyeliners and mascaras in beauty boxes over the years that I would be surprised if I ever ran out.

Below are my 9 mascaras. Half of these were received in various beauty/subscription boxes. (My purchases are the Sephora, Mac and Essense.) I am currently using the Sephora and BareMinerals mascaras. Im not very picky when it comes to mascara but I prefer a drier formula as well as not waterproof.

I will never run out of black eyeliner. If Ive counted correctly, I have 15. I have way too many but I want to try to use as many as I can. I do have 6 colored liners but I prefer the black. Im currently using the two liners pictured at the bottom (Julep and Ulta) I do have two potted liners (one black and one brown) but I dont like using them and will likely declutter them sometime this year.

Ive done well using my liquid liners. I usually toss them after 3 months. Im currently using the Stila liner and do like it but the Elf is more affordable.

Is this category out of control for you?

Makeup Inventory – Brows

I wanted to share my actual makeup inventory this year – mostly to keep myself accountable. Ill be splitting it into manageable sections over the course of the next few blog posts.

In this post, Ill be sharing my brow products.

In the last year or so, I have realized that while brow pencils are the quick and easy way to do my brows, I find that they also make me lose brow hairs. So I am working thru the couple I have and moving on to pomade and brow gel.

I currently have 3 Anastasia clear brow gels and two Essense brown brow gels. I also have a Sephora brow thickener. I have two brow pomades. One is from Anastasia and the other is from Salon Perfect. (I believe I got this in a Target Beauty Box a year or so ago.)

This might be the most manageable that this category has been in the last couple years.

What do you use in your brows?

Makeup Inventory – Face (Blush, Bronzer, Highlighters)

I wanted to share my actual makeup inventory this year – mostly to keep myself accountable. Ill be splitting it into manageable sections over the course of the next few blog posts.

In this post, Ill be sharing my blushes, bronzers, and highlighters. I find that I have a lot of products in this category. Its not my largest category, but its still quite a bit for me.

I have 7 bronzers. I have depotted a few travel sized bronzers and they live in a z-palette along side of some of the blushes I have depotted. I am very close to hitting pan on the Benefit bronzer (I have some side pan showing but that was a misfortune of depotting and not from usage.)

I also have 7 blushes. Ive hit pan on the Tarte Paarty blush and am very close to hitting pan on the Elf blush. I acquired two new blushes this year. I won the No7 in a youtube giveaway and the BareMinerals blush was part of my birthday gift from the brand. Once I hit pan on the Elf blush, Ill be concentrating on finishing the Milk Makeup stick blush since its the third oldest blush I own and cream type products have a shorter life. I do love this Milk Makeup blush and find that the shade is very complimentary.

Do not even ask me how someone acquires so many highlighters. I must have blacked out. There are 8 highlighters in this photo (and two highlighting palettes shown below). I hit pan on the Mac highlighter in a project back in 2019 (IIRC) and Im currently working to get pan in the Wet N wild highlighter. The Wander Beauty highlighter was in an Allure Beauty Box last year and its fantastic.

I won the Laura Geller palette in another youtube giveaway and the ABH palette came from a subscription box about a year or so ago.

Its safe to say that I do not have a need for any additional bronzers, blushes OR highlighters.

Have you used any of the face products I have pictured here? What do you think?

Makeup Inventory – Face (Base)

I wanted to share my actual makeup inventory this year – mostly to keep myself accountable. Ill be splitting it into manageable sections over the course of the next few blog posts.

Ill start with my face products. These are only the base products (blush, bronzer and highlighters will be their own post)

Below are the primers I have. There are two that are mainly used for oily skin. The Charlotte Tilbury one is good to use on its own for when I dont want to put on face makeup. I have loved the Peter Thomas Roth since getting a sample in a Sephora Play box a few years back and it also can be used on its on.

I have three concealers. I dont really use concealers regularly. My go-to is the BareMinerals concealer but I wanted to try the new Elf concealer and I recently got the No 7 concealer to test.

As an oily skinned woman, I prefer powder foundation. Mac has discontinued my favorite Select Sheer powder shown here, but I made sure to get a couple before they ran out. I use the Studio Fix powder for days when I want more coverage. BareMinerals is my go-to for sure. Its been my holy grail for many years. I picked up the Loreal on sale a year or so ago, and do like it but it doesnt compare to the BareMinerals in my opinion.

I also have five liquid foundations. Im currently using the first three pictured – since they are now the oldest ones I have in my collection. I absolutely LOVE the It Cosmetics CC+ Cream! It provides great coverage and doesnt feel heavy on my skin.

I have three misc powders. I use the top two as setting powders. They are both samples. Im currently using the Makeup Forever powder. The Elf powder is great for using on the whole face. I do like it and it seems to last a long time.

What do you think of the products I have? Have you used any of the above products? Do they work for you?

2021 No buy plans

This year will be different!

If you are a follower or regular reader of this blog, you have probably said this a few times…..and maybe you have had some type of success. But what Ive learned is even if you have a plan in place – you may break your low buy / no buy plan.

But this year – I have a why. Sure, we all want to save money and concentrate on using what we already have.

However, this year I have a REAL plan. I do not need new makeup. PERIOD.

What Ive asked for for any future presents are home or personal development improvements.

Ive sold two items this year and instead of buying more purses or makeup, I am putting the money into home improvement and organization. I know what I need to purchase in order to do what I want in my house, and the only way it happens is if I stop buying unnecessary things.

I am still participating in things like Influenster and pinchme, but unless I absolutely run out of something, I will not be running off to Sephora, Ulta, or Target for new makeup or even skincare.

Will you be putting together a plan this year?

My house makeover plans for the year

We have been steadily making improvements in our house the last couple of years. A year ago we were just finishing a complete remodel of our kitchen. (We did it all ourselves!) Last spring (at the beginning of quarantine) I repainted my office and I spent the last week of 2020 painting our bedroom and the doors of our second level.

You might be thinking that that is a lot – and it is. But there is always something to do when it comes to where you live.

I will be spending this year decluttering and organizing everything in my home and Ill be repainting my bathroom sometime this spring or summer.

I plan on documenting some of my journey – along with some useful tips that regular people can implement. I hope that seeing those posts inspires you to do the same in your own living space.

2021 1,000 Item Declutter Project

Ever since I started this project several years ago, I strive to get as close to 1,000 as I can. Last year was my most successful – mostly because we cleaned out our storage unit. I wanted to be done with the unit by the end of the year, but breaking my hand last fall put a damper on a few months worth of work. We almost have it emptied out completely. The S/O has tools in it now. We may still have a small unit for those since we dont have enough room to store his work tools here, but we hope -if anything, to have a much smaller unit that costs considerably less a month.

Ive realized that much of what I have brought into my house hasnt been thought thru enough, and that changes this year. I created a spreadsheet of items I want to sell. (Ive actually sold two items already!) and I refuse to purchase any more magazines!

I will be working from the following categories to start out with:

  1. Empties
  2. Makeup declutter
  3. Sold
  4. Office
  5. Kitchen
  6. Clothing
  7. Misc

Digital

  1. Apps
  2. Facebook
  3. Twitter
  4. Instagram
  5. Youtube Subscriptions
  6. Photos
  7. Files

I will be counting the Digital declutter separately from the items declutter.

I have already started going thru things and have a few boxes worth of clothing and kitchen items scheduled for pickup on Monday!

Will you be joining me this year? Will you be putting together a plan of attack on the items that no longer serve a purpose in your home?

2021 Rolling Project Pan

Since we are still dealing with a global pandemic, I decided to start my year off with using items I know I can use. Skin care is something I use no matter what is going on, and I always have enough back stock to keep using skin care in different projects. I know this isnt the most exciting type of year long project, but achievable goals are important.

Many of the items Ill be starting out with have been in prior projects while others just happen to be the next oldest products in my stash. As I finish an item, Ill be rolling in another of a similar type.

My biggest goal this year for this project is to finish my full size Peter Thomas Roth Hungarian Thermal Water Heat Mask.

Here are the products I will be working on:

  1. Hand Cream – Curel
  2. Hair Product – Not Your Mothers dry shampoo
  3. Body Lotion – Neutrogena Hydro Boost
  4. Cleanser – Biore Rose Quartz
  5. Serum – Josie Maran (this one is still hanging on)
  6. Day Moisturizer – Elemis / Dr Jart (Both are in use and Im about halfway done.)
  7. Night Moisturizer – Belif aqua bomb
  8. Eyes – Drunk Elephant C-Tango
  9. Mask – Peter Thomas Roth
  10. Perfume – Elizabeth and James Nirvana (this is the oldest perfume I have and it works for me in the winter. I will be changing this out in March.)

Will you be doing any type of year long project?

2020 Makeup Empties

Thank goodness 2020 is over, right? I had so many project pan ideas and no where to go…..

Despite being at home 99% of last year, I didnt do “TOO” bad on finishing things. I mainly concentrated on skin care last year but I did manage to wear some makeup.

My empties total for 2020 is $1069.13

How did you do last year?
