Ive recently had some changes occur in all of my projects and wanted to document them.
2020 Rolling Project Pan (year long project with makeup and skincare)
Since beginning this project, I have finished 6 makeup items and 8 skincare products placed in this project. I finished a primer and eyeliner this month so I will be adding in the Elf Poreless Putty Primer and the Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in Black
9 by November Seasonal Project Pan
I have finished 6 products placed in this project (I actually ended up finishing 4 deluxe sized eye creams since starting this project)
I still have the Sunday Riley Luna Oil and Peter Thomas Roth moisturizer and mask as well as the Strivectin Neck Cream to finish, but Im confident that Ill have all but the mask finished by November.
1,000 item declutter project
I surpassed the 1,000 item mark last weekend and we arent even halfway finished going thru our storage area. That isnt even including the items I havent been able to donate yet. I will be doing a dedicated post about this process towards the end of the year. I will still be decluttering and adding to the amount.
How are you doing on your projects this year? I know Covid really put a damper on so many project pans this year.
Its hard to believe that we have almost reach the end of another month.
Ive been keeping myself busy with both small and large projects. We are still cleaning out our storage, but since my significant other is working a full time job and the weather here has been so hot and humid, its been slow going.
Ive been steadily finishing up some of the older items in my collection and really putting a dent into what Ive accumulated in regards to skincare products.
I was able to finish a few items in my projects (which I will be updating shortly). And I colored my hair this month!
This months empties total is $165.47!
How have you been doing? Have you finished anything this month?
Its so hard to believe that its August!
I had a pretty light month for empties but surprisingly finished up 3 eye cream deluxe samples. Unfortunately, the Clinique and Clarins samples were barely filled halfway – so I dont have a huge feeling of accomplishment. I am in the midst of finishing another Clarins eye cream sample that was barely filled, as well. I did not post another update for them because I finished them within a few uses. I wont be adding another eye cream to my project because I think 4 is enough to keep track of!
Despite the packaging, the Curology moisturizer was a cleanser. It was a recent Allure Beauty Box product and I received an email stating there was a mistake of some sort and to see which one I received. Suffice it to say, I received the mislabeled/mispackaged item so I did receive a replacement moisturizer from Curology.
Im almost finished another Ulta lilac lotion (in addition to the one shown here) and only have one more sample after that left. Ill probably be taking a break from it because Im a bit bored with it.
My total for July is $42.48
This is by no means impressive, but considering how many older items Ive used this year, I am still impressed.
Were you able to finish anything?
Thankfully 2020 is halfway over. Who would have thought that back in January so many plans would have to be modified so much? Admittedly I do A LOT of skincare projects and its no surprise that my 2020 Rolling Project Pan has focused on the skincare products Ive chosen.
I have finished 15 items that have been in my 2020 project and while that does seem to be successful, there are several categories Im still struggling to use.
If you read my last post you will know that I finished a cleanser, setting powder and had to declutter an expired face mask. So I am rolling the next oldest products in my collection in those categories.
- Cleanser – Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash. While this isnt the cleanser I need to use for how my skin is currently, its my oldest cleanser so I need to use it up. Ill be using it as my morning cleanse.
- Mask – Kate Somerville Exfolikate. I love this mask and Ive used almost half of the tube.
- Setting Powder – Makeup Forever HD powder. Ive never used this powder before but I know several people who love it as much as the Laura Mercier.
I also change up which perfumes I use during this time of year. So, Ive rolled in my Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream rollerball into the project. Ill be using this perfume until sometime early fall when I will roll the Elizabeth and James Nirvana back into the project.
Have you been struggling with your year long projects? Have you finished many products?
June was definitely a great month for empties. It may not look like it but there are a lot of empties! It almost seemed like I had something finished every other day or so….
I managed to finish a cleanser, setting powder and lotion from my 2020 Project Pan. I will be updating that project with Thursdays post.
My empties total for the month of June is $138.38! That brings year to date total to $597.86!!
I will be decluttering this face mask. Not only is my face not oily these days, but this mask is definitely expired. It was my oldest face mask so its not a surprise. I dont remember how much is costs but a quick google search gives me an estimated cost of $10. I managed to finish about half of it.
My year to date total on decluttered products is $185.05
How did you do this month? Were you able to finish or declutter items?
We might have a few days left of the month, but Im ready to post my empties for May.
It was a great month for finishing things up for me. Last month I was able to finish $101.54 worth of product!!
My skin is still incredibly dry, which allowed me to really enjoy using up the samples from my recent skincare project and I was able to finish up one of my perfume samples this month.
I also finished my first full size mascara for this year. I opened it back in January when I got it in my Allure beauty box. I had only used samples of the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara prior and wanted to see if they were similar (many mascaras have an issue with this). The formula did seem similar to me.
Did you finish any products this month?
I recently repainted my office. The room hadnt been touched in probably 30 years by looking at the damage to the walls. (Weve only lived here about 5 years or so) It took me almost a week to spackle and paint – if that tells you anything.
Im currently waiting for our stores to reopen (unfortunately I live in a county that isnt scheduled to open this week) so I can get new furniture. So my desk area is still in limbo.
I am currently using a desk that has a ‘hutch’ and right now its being taken up by any odds or ends that currently dont have a home because I have no shelving on my walls yet. It doesnt usually look like this! My acrylic organizers are where they are usually and thats what I wanted to show you.
These acrylic drawers contain the entirety of my makeup collection.
On the left is a Sorbus (I think thats the brand name) that I purchased from QVC on sale for like $20. It does have another piece (it holds about 10 lipsticks) that is currently on the hutch area, but its hard to see in this photo. To the right of that, are two Muji 5 drawers stacked on top of the other, and then I have two Muji 2 drawers on top of another Muji 5 drawer. On the right is a plastic 3 drawer that I probably bought from Walmart. That holds my eyeshadow palettes in the top drawer and my makeup brushes in the other two drawers.
I actually purchased the Muji drawers for $10 each on sale a couple of years ago. I have another 2 drawer from them that I store all of my manicure/pedicure tools in (not pictured).
How do you store your makeup collection?
Its hard to believe that we are now into the 2nd quarter of the year.
I have finished 8 products so far this year, and one that unfortunately expired.
The latest items were/are:
- I finished the Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer last month. Im replacing it with the Ulta Lilac Breeze Body Lotion – 1 large bottle and 3 small bottles. Ive been working on the large bottle for over a year.
- I finished the Laura Geller Lip Scrub. Im replacing it with the Tarte Lip Facial. This is one of my favorite lip scrubs.
- My Aurora X Ipsy concealer expired. Im replacing this with BareMinerals Stroke of Light. I have only used this a few times, but so far Im liking it.
- I finished the Anastasia Brow Wiz. Im replacing it with Maybelline Brow Precise. I had used this brow pencil on and off, but its time to use it up.
Are you doing a rolling project? If so, how are you doing?
I love doing sample skincare project pans because I love to experiment with different skincare products and using up your samples can really inspire you to keep panning.
For some reason my skin has been unusually dry. Even drier than what it is during the winter. So I pulled out the skincare samples I set aside for winter to use up now. Ive tried several of these products before.
Here are the skincare samples Ill be focusing on:
- Clarins Essense
- Clarins Exfoliating Toner
- Sunday Riley Good Genes (2)
- Burts Bees Moisturizing Cream
- Kiehls Glow Formula Skin Hydrator (2)
- Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream
- Bobbi Brown Moisture Balm
- Sunday Riley A+ Serum
- Sunday Riley CEO Serum
- Caudalie eye cream
- Sunday Riley Luna Oil (2)
Im going to run this project thru June 23rd.
Will you be doing any short term seasonal projects?
What’s that phrase? March comes in like a lion? March has been a month, hasnt it?
Most of us havent been going anywhere or even wearing makeup, so its incredible that I finished anything this month.
I did manage to use up $122.91 worth of products! My 1st quarter empties total is $277.69!!
As you can see, I finished a few project pan items. I will be doing an update in a future post.
I am also decluttering 3 items.
Luckily, these items are only valued at about $8.
- The Ipsy concealer has been making my skin dry out and thats saying something for someone like me with oily skin.
- The Elf eyeliner runs so bad and I also was not aware that it was a blue liner until it ran so bad.
- The Lancome eyeliner has dried out.
Were you able to finish anything this month?
