I joined a gym!

I wont deny that in recent years I have gained some weight (and inches). A few years ago we belonged to the YMCA but had to quit due to a layoff and unemployment only goes so far.

I had been doing at home ‘workouts’ – basically yoga videos for light stretching and the occasional cardio, but definitely nothing that would show any type of actual results.

I had always struggled with my health and was always underweight (I weighed less than 100 pounds a decade ago). I was placed on a medication (prednisone) that literally packed the pounds on. At the time the addition of that weight was a good thing but with my age and sedentary lifestyle the pounds just kept piling on and before I knew it, I had gained almost 100 pounds in 10 years!

So back in June we made the decision to do something about our health. We rejoined the YMCA and we are taking it very seriously this time around. I love the group classes (Zumba, Body Pump, CXWorx) because they keep me motivated and I really enjoy the instructors.

Since June I have not lost any weight but I have lost more than two inches from my waist-line! Im incredibly motivated by these early results, but I know I have a long way to go!

Are you a member of a gym? Do you workout at home? Have you seen any results?

Let me know in the comments!

  1. I joined a barre class once a week and now joining a sculpt and tone class another day of the week. I supplement with an app on the weekend.

I’m proud of your journey so far though! Two inches is great progress!
